WCA — A Club Where a Cat Receives Not Just a Document, but Recognition

When a person first holds a tiny kitten in their hands, they usually see only a sweet little face, soft paws, and big baby eyes. But a breeder sees much more. A breeder sees origin, type, bloodlines, generations of work, responsibility, the future of the breed, and the life of a small living creature.

That is why documents, litter inspections, pedigrees, shows, standards, and feline clubs are so important in the world of cats. Not because of “just a piece of paper.” Not for decoration. But for order, honesty, and protection — for the breeder, the owner, and the animal itself.

Today I would like to tell you about WCA — World Cat Association. It is a system that unites people who love cats: breeders, cattery owners, experts, clubs, and those who are just beginning their journey in felinology.

What is WCA?

WCA is a felinological system for the registration of cats, kittens, catteries, litters, titles, and show achievements.

But in simple words, WCA is a place where a cat receives official recognition of its origin, breed, color, show quality, and breeding value.

For a breeder, it is not just an organization. It is support.

For a kitten owner, it is confidence.

For a club, it is a clear system.

For a cat, it is its history, recorded correctly.

Why does every serious breeder need a club?

Many beginners think: “Why do I need a club? My cat is beautiful anyway.”

An expert evaluates the head type, eye shape, ear set, body, tail, coat, color, condition, temperament, and overall impression. For a breeder, this information is extremely valuable. A show helps to understand how well the animal corresponds to the breed and what should be considered in future breeding work.

Titles are not just beautiful letters before a cat’s name. They are confirmation of the animal’s quality by experts.

When a cat receives a title, it is the result of the breeder’s work, the owner’s care, and the quality of the animal itself.

WCA welcomes not only experienced breeders. Very often, people come to the club after buying their first pedigree kitten. Nobody is born a felinologist.
